I have found in the past that postcard mailing will work if you stay on it on a consistent pace. The reader has to see it more than once, has to be eye-catching and continue with other advertising methods as well to the same people, they will react soon enough. Here in Dothan, AL lawn care service is growing fast, so will succeed and some will fail. Customer service and staying in touch is a good tool. We have been in business for some time now and have numerous clients, we even stay in touch with the customers we don't do lawnservice anymore

advertising postcards requires less effort because the size won't be problem during printing. You can make the message personalized as well as the design. These are the factor that can capture the attention of your prospects.

Postcards are easier for a prospect to file away than a regular flyer. Fridge magnets are another option or basically anything of value that you can give a poptential client that may stick around their home for a while such as a packet of tissue paper of a pen.

Referrals are great once you have a customer base but until then you are left mostly with advertising and direct marketing. Other options include picking buying some accounts off another operator or netorking with other businesses.

This is both a cheap and effective way to market your business. I think post cards seem less spammy to people then just regular mail.

I have tried postcards, but unfortunately I din't have much success. I designed them myself with professional stock photos, and had them professionally printed. I know that sometimes the quality of the list makes a big difference. I may try again following these tips.

I think the postcards would work very well especially because they're not as flimsy as a lot of other promotional materials, and a lot of people like to collect them. There's just something more personal about a postcard, which people react to better.

I really like these marketing tips. I have never tried any of these advertising techniques before, although they sound pretty useful. Door hangers, although more expensive, will get more customers than fliers, I imagine. Sending post cards to potential customers is an idea I have never thought about before, although it is a very interesting prospect. Thanks for another great post, and I will be sure to continue reading!

I do agree Chestin, year round marketing efforts need to be done. I thought this was a great post by Bob giving some very good information on marketing, and not just for landscaping businesses.

Thanks for your comment.

Bob brings up quite a few excellent points, but the one that I try to hammer home most is the very last one. Marketing is an activity that must be done YEAR ROUND in order to be most effective. If you follow Bob's advice on using the postcards, you'll get a much better result mailing 200/mo over a period of months instead of blasting out all 5K at once.

The key is TARGETED and CONSISTENT. If you'll combine those two features, you'll be amazed at the results you can generate using the same methods you're currently using.
